Recently, Skilled Nursing News interviewed WellSky Chief Technology Officer Joel Dolisy on a range of topics, including WellSky’s partnership with Google Cloud and the integration of the generative AI tools.
During the interview, Joel shared his thoughts on how generative AI tools will be beneficial in the skilled nursing settings. “Last summer, we went to all of our different domain experts to understand where the clinicians are actually spending a lot of time with the systems,” said Joel. One common problem he identified is the process of clinical documentation. “This is one of the key uses, for instance, at which generative AI is really good at. It’s good at summarizing and extracting information from documentation.”
Generative AI can automatically summarize long, complex documents like Continuity Care Documents (CCDs), allowing clinicians to quickly identify key information like patient problems, allergies, and medications. Importantly, the AI won't just create summaries — it will highlight the location of the information in the original document. This process ensures the summaries are based on facts and not just the AI's interpretation, which improves overall efficacy and frees up clinician time for more patient interaction.
WellSky is partnering with Google Cloud to accelerate data-driven, cutting-edge AI technology into our solutions.
