Meet Allie Kennedy
We are thrilled to shine the spotlight on a familiar face who’s grown up right here at WellSky – from her early days as an intern to becoming an essential part of our Corporate IT team. Meet Allie Kennedy, the force behind our Microsoft enterprise applications.
The journey to WellSky
Like many great stories, this one starts with a leap of faith. “I didn’t have a large amount of IT knowledge when I first applied for an internship,” Allie said. “But I was determined to give it my best shot – so I taught myself everything I could to stick around.”
With her willingness to learn, she carved out her place at WellSky. Starting back when we were known as Mediware, she worked out of the original headquarters on 79th Street. Fast-forward six years, and she has taken on a variety of roles – from helpdesk technician to system engineer – and is now playing a pivotal role as a Microsoft enterprise application administrator on team APPleCore (the name was her idea!).
One of her proudest accomplishments? Leading the tenant rename project, helping us transition away from the Mediware legacy to fully embrace the WellSky identity across our Microsoft environment. “It was a long time coming, and we hit a few stumbling blocks along the way, but we got it done,” she said.
Overcoming challenges, building solutions
When asked about the biggest challenges Allie has faced, acquisition and migration projects top the list. “Each organization we acquire is different—different systems, different needs. That means a custom plan every time.” Thankfully, she had a great mentor early on and now manages many of these critical projects independently.
Life outside the office
Now based in western Massachusetts (a recent move from Overland Park), she is embracing life in the northeast. Whether it’s riding her motorcycle, hiking, tossing discs on a disc golf course, or curling up with a good book on a rainy day, she stays active and curious even off the clock.
Fun fact? Allie is a Taekwondo veteran, having competed at the national level as both an athlete and coach!
Advice for thriving at WellSky
What makes WellSky stand out? “It’s the people,” she said without hesitation. “Everyone is willing to help. If you hit a wall or need backup, someone’s always there to lend a hand.”
But beyond the camaraderie, WellSky offered something even more valuable: opportunity. “I didn’t have a defined career path when I started. Through WellSky, I was able to explore, learn, and find my place. They also provided training and certification resources to support that growth,” she said.
Her advice for anyone considering a role here? “The most important skill you can bring is a desire to learn and grow,” Allie said, “If you’ve got that, WellSky will give you the space and support to thrive.”
