Meet Allen Moentmann: Engineering with context and purpose

From startup roots to WellSky leadership  

Allen Moentmann leads Team Sol as a staff software engineer at WellSky, focusing on the WellSky Resource Manager solution. Located in St. Louis, Missouri, Allen brings a unique blend of startup grit and engineering precision to his role.

His early career at a startup in the skilled nursing space exposed him to every facet of solution development. He picked up skills across the stack – from frontend to backend – and even client support. That experience taught him how to avoid common pitfalls and how to approach problems with a full-stack mindset. After joining WellSky, Allen eventually took on a leadership role with Team Sol.

Solving the right problems

Allen’s strength lies in understanding the context behind technical requests. He’s especially skilled at identifying XY problems, where the stated issue may not reflect the actual need. This ability helps his team deliver solutions that truly matter. He finds it rewarding to work alongside fellow teammates who bring a problem-solving mindset.  

Allen after hours

Outside of work, Allen is passionate about the outdoors. He hikes, kayaks, and runs 5Ks with his family. He’s also a former competitive ultimate frisbee player.
