Holiday Help at WHQ: Making the season brighter for 20 local families

Holiday Help has become a cherished tradition at WellSky HQ, reflecting our commitment to supporting families in the Kansas City community during the holidays. What began years ago with ornaments on a tree in the break room at our former headquarters has grown into an initiative that touches more lives each season. Back then, five to eight families were helped each year. Today, the reach is broader and the opportunity to make a difference is even greater.

The process begins with a wish list. Families share what they needed most – such as warm coats, shoes, and clothing – along with items to make the season special for their children. Teammates select and purchase gifts, ensuring each item arrives at WHQ. The final step is WrapFest, where volunteers join forces to wrap more than 200 gifts and celebrate the spirit of giving as a community.

This year, the giveback effort reached its largest scale yet. Over 20 households received support for daily essentials and gifts that brought joy. Historically, WellSky teammates have fulfilled nearly every request, and once again, our team rose to the occasion – delivering gifts to 57 recipients.

Holiday Help is a teammate-led initiative supported primarily by our teammates working in WHQ. WellSky Staff Technical Program Manager Larry Hughes deserves special recognition as the head and heart of this initiative, managing countless details to keep the tradition thriving.

From the first wish list item to the last wrapped gift, Holiday Help delivered on its promise. Every contribution mattered, and together, the effort helped to make the holidays brighter for families in our community.
