WellSky Extract: Powering home health with AI

Recently we announced the availability of WellSky Extract for Home Health, our new AI-powered solution designed to revolutionize medication reconciliation and free up clinicians' time for what matters most: patient care. Manually inputting information for each medication can take upwards of 1.5 minutes, adding up to nearly 20 minutes per patient. WellSky Extract cuts that time down significantly. Early adopters are already seeing a 60% reduction in medication reconciliation time, completing the process in just eight minutes on average.

How does it work? WellSky Extract, integrated directly within the WellSky Home Health EHR's OASIS workflow, leverages the power of Google's Vertex AI platform and Gemini models to analyze medication information from various sources – including referral documents, hand-written medication lists, and photographs of medication bottle labels – and then populates medication information into the patient’s EHR, for manual review and confirmation. This blend of AI automation and human oversight is essential for safe and effective healthcare.

WellSky Extract utilizes the power of Google Gemini for efficient extraction of medications from provided patient documentation. Implementing responsible AI practices, WellSky Extract implements an architecture that places a “human in the loop,” ensuring that all extracted medications can be quickly and efficiently reviewed by an expert clinician before the extracted data is approved to be added to the patient’s profile.  

WellSky Extract is just the beginning. WellSky SkySense AI™ will be expanding to include tools like WellSky Scribe, an ambient listening and transcription tool, and WellSky Summarize, which will synthesize medical records for review and compliance checks.
