Background and engineering mindset
I am a Staff Software Engineer at WellSky, based in Overland Park, Kansas. My interest in technology began early, rooted in a fascination with physics — particularly microprocessors and microcontrollers. That curiosity naturally expanded into computing and software development, ultimately guiding me toward a career in IT and engineering.
A quote from one of my college professors has stayed with me throughout my career: “An engineer is someone who can make or break anything.” Over the past 14 years, that perspective has shaped how I approach my work — thoughtfully breaking down complex problems, exploring new ideas, and continuously learning in order to build resilient, effective solutions.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring emerging technologies, and experimenting with AI concepts. I’m driven by the challenge of learning something new every day and finding better ways to solve problems.
My path to WellSky
Before joining WellSky full time, I worked with the company as a contractor. During that time, I was exposed to a wide range of technical challenges and quickly saw the meaningful impact WellSky’s solutions have across the healthcare ecosystem. That experience motivated me to join the organization permanently.
What stood out most was the engineering culture — one that encourages experimentation, innovation, and learning, rather than focusing solely on short-term ROI. Since joining full time, my role has evolved to include AI technology implementation, aligning closely with my personal interests and curiosity about the future of software engineering. Each project brings new opportunities to learn, and while challenges are inevitable, they are often the most rewarding aspects of the work.
